breakfast of champions

I made a rice pudding this morning with a gourmet rice blend, local honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, soy milk and a yard egg.  This is going to be so good!

It's been a while

I wanted to check in, just in case someone stumbled upon my little site ;-)...I'm feeling much better now and I'm back on track. My diet was lacking something, but that was because of the illness, not the other way around. I'm thinking whole wheat pancakes for breakfast, yum. Now, if I could only get over my passion for butter!

problems this weekend

I don’t know what it is that I’ve done wrong, but I have been suffering the last 24 hours. I had hoped that the headache would be gone when I got up this morning, but it’s still here and I’m very shaky.

Yesterday we went to a BBQ benefit and although the link and brisket weren’t particularly appealing to me, I almost had some. I knew that I was lacking something in my diet, but I figured if I was going have meat, I’d go for something a little healthier. That said, for breakfast this morning I made myself a small tuna salad and I plan to go back to bed for a while.

How do my kids feel about all this?

One thing I have learned, cats are not fooled by veggie burgers.

How it all began

I woke up on Monday, January 18, 2010 and decided to try a week without meat. Why January 18? Why not? My trial week went well and at the end of it, I couldn’t see any reason to stop.

I have always agreed on principal that I should not be eating meat, but quite frankly, I love the stuff. I’ve been off and on a food combination diet for the last few years and I have learned to pay attention to nutrition and food. I also discovered that delicious meatless meals do exist.

In celebration of my third week of vegetarianism, I decided to start this blog. I don’t have any clear vision of where it will go, but I’m okay with that.
